The original donation of funds came from St. Joseph Mercy Foundation, who shared them with the Grass Lake Ministerial Association. The Ministerial Association gave them to the Copper Nail, who was able to donate them to the Grass Lake Community Pharmacy.
Todd Raehtz, the Pharmacy owner, has donated matching funds over $5,500 to the fund to help the patients in need in our community.
Anyone can donate in any amount. Right now, we are hoping that those people who still have their normal income levels would make a donation to help their neighbors who do not.
In the future, we hope to have a variety of small fundraising activities that will replenish the funds. We will have a donation jar at our counter, and will offer Friday jeans day for $5 per employee.
Further, we hope that local clubs, sports teams, and other organizations that have benefited from our support will consider taking on a fundraising activity on our behalf. What a way to teach the kids the value of working for a cause bigger than yourself!
DONATE TODAY!
Almost all of the funds will be going to patient care. Some of the funds that are unrestricted will be used for administrative expenses we can not avoid. Specifically, there are credit card company fees associated with a donation. Likewise, we may need printing and signs to help make this program a success, especially for our patients who need it.
The funds are going to be used for anyone who requests them. We know that more than 100 people will be able to be helped with the funds we had early in 2020. We have put a monthly cap of $100 on the amount anyone can use so we can help as many Grass Lake Warriors as possible.
As of April 13. 2020, the balance is slightly more than $11,400. In the future, we may add a graph to be very transparent about our funds.
No, but check with your accountant to be sure. We have not set up a not-for profit to accept your donation. It is something we will look into in the coming months.
Our goal is to consistently add to the funds. While we have kept it quiet in the past, through the generous support of others, we have donated more than $10,000 in prescriptions and services to members of our community over the past few years. Our patients have been so grateful.
We know that people sometimes struggle with their jobs, prescription insurance, and managing daily living expenses for a number of reasons and especially when they become ill. Grass Lake Community Pharmacy always want to be here to support them.
